Chopta Tungnath Chandrashila is really attractive trek in the Garhwal Himalayas; the gorgeous view of rhododendrons will stun you through the trek. This trek boasts Stunning views of various Himalayan peaks namely Nanda Devi, Trishul, Chaukhamba and Kedar.

Day 1 - Reporting at Haridwar
You will arrive at Haridwar.
Day 2 - Drive to Saari, 7-8 hours of journey by jeep
Early in the morning move towards Sari 7-8 hours journey, the base camp of Chota Chandrashila Trek. Take in the beautiful vista of lower Garhwal Himalayas as the drive turns uphill. Reach Sari by 5:00 in the evening. The views around the village are gorgeous. Overnight stay in gust house / Tents.
Day 3 - Saari to Deoriatal, 2 hour trek
After breakfast start 2 hours trek. A well-defined rocky trail will show you to the end, from where the Chandrashila summit is clearly visible and the Tunganath temple is a speck of color. A grand view of Chaukhamba massifs is showed in the background of the lake. It will be mid-noon by the time you reach the spot. Overnight stay in tent.
Day 4: Deoriatal to Syalmi, 5 hours trek through Rohini Bugyal,
After breakfast we will start trek. Deoriatal to Sylmi trail is beautiful with amazing views of Chaukhamba peaks and Kedar Dome. Go through a forest section of Maple and Rhododendron trees. After you exit this section with views of Sari village Chandrashila peak come into sight. After ascent you will be awestruck by the views of valleys on both sides. Walk through the forest of Chopta under the shade of trees, here we can spot Himalayan birds in this region. After half an hour, take the ascending trail which leads to Rohini Buyal. Overnight stay in tent.
Day 5: Syalmi to Baniya Kund 3 hours trek
Today we will traverse the ridge of Rohini Bughyal to enter the meadows of Bhrujgali. From Rohini Bughyal, proceed towards the connecting forest ridge. Follow the path that ascends gradually all the way to the top of the forested ridge. This is covered in dense forest cover. Locals call this spot as Tikidi Khal. The next trail takes a sharp right turn and descends rapidly all the way to Akash Kamini, a rivulet coming from Chandrashila. Overnight stay in tent.
Day 6: Baniyakund to Tungnath & Chandrashilla Top & back to Baniyakund 5 hours.
Today we will start trek very early in the morning so that we can enjoy the beautiful Sunrise from Tunganath temple top. The trek runs on a well-defined concrete-bound trail from Chopta to the temple. Today, the hike will be fraught with steep climbing challenges with sharp turns to cross by. From here, you will also get a clear vision of a connecting peak to Chandrashila. This one is named Ravanshila. Overnight stay in Baniyakund.
Day 7: Drive from Baniyakund to Haridwar. Overnight Stay in Haridwar.
Today we will ride back from the Chopta road head to Haridwar. After 7 hour journey we will be reaching Haridwar in the evening. Overnight stay.
Day 8: Early Morning Train from Haridwar to Delhi

Sari Village will be the base camp which is 210 kms from Haridwar. Mountain Hikers arrange pick up from Haridwar at 6.30 am on Day 2.

Q1. How about accommodation facility in this trek?
Accommodation will be in tents on all the days – each tent will be shared by 3 / 4 Hikers. The tents will be provided by Mountain Hikers. We will also put up Dinner Tent / Kitchen Tent & Toilet tents – The number will vary according to the size of the group.
Mountain Hikers will provide sleeping bag to each Hiker. The sleeping bags we provide can sustain temperatures up to -10° C on high altitude treks.
Q2. When will there be snow on this trek?
You are possible to find snow on this trek in June. Though, this depends on the snowfall that happens in the earlier winter.
Q3. At What Time are We Supposed to Reach at Haridwar?
Mountain Hikers will arrange for pick up from Haridwar by 06:30 AM. Be sure to reach Haridwar by 06:00 AM.
Q4. When will we get back to Haridwar?
On Day 7, we will reach back at Haridwar.
Q5. What is the best way to reach Haridwar?
Haridwar is well connected to Delhi. If you take an overnight bus from Delhi, it will take you 6-7 hours to reach Haridwar. Tickets can be booked online. You can choose government buses as they usually run on schedule.
Q6. Can First timers go for this trek?
Yes. Roopkund trek is a Moderate level trek. First timers can go for this trek. However, irrespective of your past trekking experience, fitness is mandatory before every high altitude trek. Everyday exercise, Yoga, jogging 5-6 km in 30 minutes can help with this trek.
Q7. Who will be trek coordinator with us from Mountain Hikers?
An expert qualified & certified Trek Leader from Mountain Hikers, along with technical guides, cooks and other staff members will be with hikers during the whole trek. This team is well trained and is always ready to help hikers.
Q8. Do I need special snowshoes for the trek?
No need to buy special snowshoes for this trek. A good trekking shoes is sufficient for the trek. We advise a pair that is water resistant. Keep sufficient spare socks for a quick change in case the snow wets the insides of the shoes.
Q9. What kind of food is served on the trek? Should we carry any food?
Mountain Hikers provides menu which is suitable for high altitude treks. Breakfast menu includes bread & Jam and butter, Dalia, Poha, sandwiches, corn flakes etc. Lunch mostly includes of Roti or Puri with Veg. sabzi. Dinner is complete with Dal, Rice, Roti and Dessert. You can carry dry snacks & dry fruits if required.
Q10. When it becomes really cold can I consume alcohol?
Alcohol is unsafe in extreme cold, especially on high altitudes. Contrary to what people believe, alcohol does not make you warmer. Instead it opens your pores making your body colder. Moreover, it dehydrates you very speedily. Hence consumption of alcohol is strictly prohibited on all Mountain Hikers treks. Similarly smoking is not allowed on Mountain Hikers Treks Anyone found with alcohol is quickly removed from the trek.
Q11. What about the Internet and WiFi connectivity?
Saari have BSNL and idea mobile phone networks that work irregularly.
Q12. What about the ATMs if I need to withdraw cash?
You can withdraw money at Haridwar.
