Har Ki Dun is one of the most beautiful valleys in the Western Himalayas. This is a valley trek where you trek along the Supin River to Har Ki Dun valley. The frame shaped valley is settled with ancient communities. This is also one of the few treks where we crossways the local lifestyle nearby. Sankri Village is base camp for this trek.
With each passing day, the beauty of the trail just keeps on growing, especially, the trail passing through the Osla village. The brown old buildings pleasantly merge with the forests and mountains and as a spectator.
Day 1 - Dehradun to Sankri
We will assemble early morning in Dehradun by 6 AM and drive towards Sankri. Overnight stay at Sankri.
Day 2 - Sankri to Taluka 12 KM by road. To Bid aka Thach 2 KM Trek Acclimatization Day
After breakfast drive from Sankri to Taluka by jeep. Taluka is the starting point of our trek. Today we will have short hike towards Bida Ka Thach for 2 KM and get acclimatize for tomorrow’s Trek. Overnight stay in tents.
Day 3:- Bida Ka Thach to Pawani Gharat 12 KM Trek
Post breakfast start trek from Bida Ka Thach. The trail starts with the chestnuts, walnuts, willows, chinars and a variety of conifer trees. Reach Pawani Gharat Camps by late afternoon. Overnight stay in tents.
Day 4:- Pawani Gharat to Simatra Camp 12 KM Trek
After breakfast, start our trek to Simatra Camp. The route followed by crossing an old bridge over river Rupin. The trail now ascends through pitches and meadows with huts. we arrive at our campsite. Overnight stay in tents.
Day 5:- Simatra Camp to Har Ki Dun to Marinda Lake Trek. 7 KM Trek
After breakfast, start our trek to Har Ki Dun. The meadows of Dev Thach are clearly visible on your right, across the confluence of the two rivers. As you cross the mountain bend, you are greeted with the sight of the Har Ki Dun peak and Hata Peak, below which is Har-ki-Dun valley. The trail initially descends as you trek. Explore Maninda Taal. This site has rare cactus that blooms only at night. Overnight stay in tents.
Enjoy the views of pristine trek in the Himalayas.
Day 6:- Harkidun to jamdar glacier base back Har ki dun 10 KM trek both side
Post breakfast, Trek towards Jamdar Glacier. Back to Har Ki Dun Overnight stay in tents.
Start trekking early as you have a long distance to cover today. Overnight stay in tents.
Day 7:- Har Ki Dun to Devsu Bhugyal 8 KM trek
Today, after breakfast, we will start our trek towards Devsu Bhugyal. Overnight stay in tents.
Day 8:- Devsu bugiyal to taluka 15 KM Trek Drive to Taluka to Sankri 12 KM Drive
Trek 13 km to Taluka, followed by a 12 km drive from Taluka to Sankri. The way back to Sankri is an easy one with consistent descents and level walks all the way from Taluka. From Taluka Jeeps are waiting to drop us to Sankri. Overnight stay in Guest House / Hotel.
Day 9:- Sankri to Dehradun
The trek to Har ki Dun concludes today as we leave Sankri and reach Dehradun in the evening

Sankri is base village for this trek. Mountain Hikers will arrange Mountain Hikers organizes travelling facility from Dehradun to Sankri. The pick-up is at 6.30 am from Dehradun Railway station on Day 1.

Q1. How about accommodation facility in this trek?
Accommodation will be in tents on all the days – each tent will be shared by 3 / 4 Hikers. The tents will be provided by Mountain Hikers. We will also put up Dinner Tent / Kitchen Tent & Toilet tents – The number will vary according to the size of the group.
Mountain Hikers will provide sleeping bag to each Hiker. The sleeping bags we provide can sustain temperatures up to -10° C on high altitude treks.
Q2. When will there be snow on this trek?
You are possible to find snow on this trek in June. Though, this depends on the snowfall that happens in the earlier winter.
Q3. At what time we supposed to reach Dehradun?
Mountain Hikers will arrange for pick up from Dehradun by 07:30 AM. Be sure to reach Dehradun by 06:00 AM.
Q4. When will we get back to Dehradun?
On Day 7, we will reach back to Dehradun.
Q5. What is the best way to reach Dehradun?
Dehradun is well connected to Delhi. If you take an overnight bus from Delhi, it will take you 6-7 hours to reach Dehradun. Tickets can be booked online. You You can choose government buses as they usually run on schedule.
Q6. Can First timers go for this trek?
Har ki Dun trek is a Moderate level trek. First timers can go for this trek. However, irrespective of your past trekking experience, fitness is mandatory before every high altitude trek. Everyday exercise, Yoga, jogging 5-6 km in 30 minutes can help with this trek.
Q7. Who will be trek coordinator with us from Mountain Hikers?
An expert qualified & certified Trek Leader from Mountain Hikers, along with technical guides, cooks and other staff members will be with hikers during the whole trek. This team is well trained and is always ready to help hikers.
Q8. Do I need special snowshoes for the trek?
No need to buy special snowshoes for this trek. A good trekking shoes is sufficient for the trek. We advise a pair that is water resistant. Keep sufficient spare socks for a quick change in case the snow wets the insides of the shoes.
Q9. What kind of food is served on the trek? Should we carry any food?
Mountain Hikers provides menu which is suitable for high altitude treks. Breakfast menu includes bread & Jam and butter, Dalia, Poha, sandwiches, corn flakes etc. Lunch mostly includes of Roti or Puri with Veg. sabzi. Dinner is complete with Dal, Rice, Roti and Dessert. You can carry dry snacks & dry fruits if required.
Q10. When it becomes really cold can I consume alcohol?
Alcohol is unsafe in extreme cold, especially on high altitudes. Contrary to what people believe, alcohol does not make you warmer. Instead it opens your pores making your body colder. Moreover, it dehydrates you very speedily. Hence consumption of alcohol is strictly prohibited on all Mountain Hikers treks. Similarly smoking is not allowed on Mountain Hikers Treks Anyone found with alcohol is quickly removed from the trek.
Q11. What about the internet & wifi connectivity?
Purola and Sankri have BSNL mobile phone networks that work irregularly.
Q12. What about the ATMs if I need to withdraw cash?
Purola has the last ATM point before your trek starts.
