This fort is believed to belong to the Shilahar dynasty era, and probably named Vasota due to the name Vasantgad given to it during that era. According to ancient scriptures Shivaji took Vasota after his successful raid on Javli region. But it is untrue. Shivaji took Javli and other forts in the Konkan region but Vasota eluded him. When Shivaji was trapped on Panhalgad he dispatched a battalion from his main army and won Vasota on June 1660.
Among the prisoners caught in 1661 in Rajapur, Faren and Samuel were kept imprisoned on the fort. In 1706, Tai Telini brought the fort under her control. The very next year Peshwa Senapati Bapu Gokhale fought with her. After 8-10 months of intense battle, Bapu Nadkarni conquered the fort

In the event that the participant(s) disobey the directions / instructions of the Camp Director or authorized representative of Mountain Hikers, the participant/s shall be solely liable for the risks, responsibilities and consequence.
In case of any medical problems, ailments, disorders etc. or symptoms of the same, arising during the camp or trek, the participant(s) shall inform the organizers about the same, at the earliest. In case of any medical ailments, disorders etc. which the participants are suffering or have suffered from, it is his/her responsibility to inform the organizers in advance, before commencement of the camp or trek.
If required, the participant/s will have to take medical treatment from the doctor/attendant available on the campsite or from the nearest available medical Centre or hospital. The expenses for all medical treatment and arrangements for the same will be solely bear by the participant.
The Camp Director or the authorized representative of Mountain Hikers shall have complete discretion to continue the camp without the participant/s suffering from medical problem.
Consumption of liquor, cigarette, tobacco products, etc. is strictly prohibited during the camp or trek. The trek will be considered over only when we are back to home town.
Each participant shall protect the flora and fauna of the place being visited and not throw plastic, wrappers etc. on the trek.
In case of any injury, sickness, accident, legal heirs or successors, death or any other casualty or loss or damage of valuables or luggage or any equipment; Mountain Hikers, its instructors, organizers, volunteers or any other person involved wholly or partially, either individually or jointly, shall not be responsible in any manner for the same and no claims of the participants, parents, guardians, relatives or friends of participants will be entertained.
If the participants have enrolled for the activities like wildlife camping, river rafting, rappelling, rock climbing, valley crossing, river crossing or any other adventure sports/activity, then all the risks and responsibilities related to and arising from such activities shall be solely upon such participants and Mountain Hikers shall not be liable in any manner whatsoever.
Participant will submit a physical fitness certificate from MBBS doctor before proceeding for the trek
Mountain Hikers Reserves all rights of admission for any programmes announced.
Booking for all events will be done on first come first served basis.
If issued equipments Damages/misplace/if any, by participants, the concern participant /person/s, Organization/Institute/Company/ any other will responsible to pay the equipment cost to Mountain Hikers.
The participant will have to pay prescribed booking/ advance amount along with the registration form. If the balance payment is not made within 45 days before date of event, the registration will get cancelled & Mountain Hikers will not be responsible to refund the amount.
50% refund if cancellation is made more than 30 days and less than 45 days prior to the departure date of the event.
25% refund if cancellation is made more than 20 days and less than 30 days prior to the departure date of the event.
NO refund will be made if cancellation is made within 20 days prior to the departure date of the event.
Cancellation charges are calculated of the Total Amount payable and not of advance amount.
Any cancellation request by participant/s should be made in proper format at Mountain Hikers office. The refund (if any) will be given within 15 days after the event is over, irrespective of cancellation date on the cancellation request form.
In case of cancellation of any event due to reasons beyond control (like Natural calamities, riots, political uncertainty, public transport failure etc.) of Mountain Hikers, no refund shall be payable.
It is assumed that you have accepted & agreed all the terms and conditions and undertakings, when you enroll for an event.
