Brahmatal Trek | Glacial Lake Trek

The Brahma Tal Trek is one of the most popular winter treks in Uttarakhand. Also known as the Brahmatal Trek, this beautiful Himalayan trek takes you through snow-covered forests, open meadows, frozen lakes, and wide mountain views. It is located in the Chamoli district of Uttarakhand and starts from the small mountain village of Lohajung.

This trek is famous for its stunning alpine lakes, especially Brahmatal Lake and Bekaltal Lake. During the winter season, both lakes often freeze, creating a magical snow landscape. The clear reflections of Himalayan peaks in the lake make it one of the most scenic trekking destinations in India.

A full package deal for nature lovers and adventure seekers, the Brahmatal trek is a great way to experience the beauty of nature and rocky hilltops. This land is beautifully positioned amidst the Himalayas and covered with snow blankets. The trail allows you to see the centuries-old forest of oak and rhododendron. While walking in meadows beside Brahmatal Ridge, you can see many sites of the Roopkund. While on your way, you might glance at the Garhwal Mountains in the distance, which will melt your heart on a clear day.

The Brahma Tal Trek usually starts from Rishikesh and continues by road to Lohajung. From Lohajung, the trekking journey begins. The total trek distance is moderate and suitable for beginners with basic fitness. The maximum altitude of the trek is around 12,000 feet, which makes it a perfect high-altitude trek for first-time trekkers who want to experience snow trekking in the Himalayas.

One of the biggest highlights of the Brahmatal winter trek is the breathtaking view of Himalayan peaks like Trishul and Nanda Ghunti. From the higher ridges, trekkers get wide panoramic views of snow-covered mountains and deep valleys. The trail passes through dense oak and rhododendron forests, especially beautiful during snowfall.

The best time to do the Brahma Tal Trek is from December to March for snow lovers. During this time, the trail is covered in white snow, making it one of the best snow treks in India. From March to April, the snow begins to melt and the weather becomes more pleasant. It is also possible to do this trek in spring and early summer for clear mountain views.

This trek is considered easy to moderate in difficulty. It is ideal for beginners, adventure seekers, nature lovers, and those looking for a winter trekking package in Uttarakhand. The campsites are peaceful and surrounded by natural beauty, offering a true Himalayan camping experience.

If you are searching for the best winter trek in Uttarakhand, a snow trek near Rishikesh, or a beginner-friendly Himalayan trekking tour, the Brahma Tal Trek is a perfect choice. It offers snow, forests, lakes, mountain views, and a complete Himalayan adventure in just five days.

This trek and its trails are full of vibrant blooms of flowers, mesmerizingly flowing water with splendid coastlines, and even dark, dense, woody-smelling forests full of tall trees. There are several shorter trails, each one leading to a single destination: oneness with nature.

Located in the lap of the Himalayas and set at an elevation of 10,200 feet, Brahmatal is nothing less than Mother Nature manifesting itself in all ways possible. The pass is known for its glistening beauty of frozen lakes and snow-capped valleys. Everything on the land is so pure and pristine that it is the best place to escape the maximalism of urban life and find peace and calm in the shiny white surroundings.
