Ali Bedni Bugyal Trek: A Scenic Himalayan Adventure

Ali Bedni Bugyal, nestled at an impressive elevation of 11,686 feet above sea level, is a hidden gem within the magnificent state of Uttarakhand, India. Situated at the confluence of the Garhwal and Kumaon regions, specifically in the Chamoli District, this alpine paradise captivates trekkers with its serene charm and breathtaking landscapes. The Ali Bedni Bugyal Trek is a journey that unveils the mesmerizing beauty of these meadows, making it an ideal destination for both novice and experienced trekkers.

Ali Bedni Bugyal is the most beautiful twin meadow in India. Out of all the meadow treks in the country, this one feels the most grand and inspiring, with an incredible view of Mt. Trishul and Mt. Nanda Ghunti. These mountains don’t just peek over the horizon. You’ll see their entire massive faces, rising nearly 6,000 to 7,000 feet right in front of you. It’s a sight that leaves you in awe.

Towards the end of the Ali Bedni Bugyal trek, you make your way down to a village called Wan. One of the special spots here is the temple of Latu Devta, tucked among ancient, towering Cypress trees. It’s a well-known landmark in the area and also lies on the route of the famous Nanda Devi Raj Jat Yatra, a sacred pilgrimage that holds deep cultural significance.

The walk to Ali and Bedni Bugyal is pure joy. The moment you reach Ali, it’s so soft and inviting that you’ll probably want to take off your shoes and walk barefoot on the grass—it feels like nature’s own carpet. Then there’s Bedni Bugyal, another beautiful stretch of meadow that opens up to stunning views of the western valley. If you climb up to Bedni Top, you’re going to witness a breathtaking view of the Chaukhamba range.

The campsites on this trek each have their charm. Places like Abin Kharak, Didna, and Gheroli Patal all feel different from one another, which makes the journey more interesting and fun. One of the most special moments is when you leave the dense forest and suddenly step into the wide, open meadows of Ali Bugyal. The best part of the trek is when you suddenly reach Ali Bugyal after walking through thick forests. The moment you step out of the trees and see the huge, open meadow in front of you.
