Hampta Pass is one of the most dramatic crossover treks you can do. This begins with your first campsite, Jobra, which is at the edge of the forest. Your next campsite Jwara is a wildflower meadow at the meeting point of a valley! Then here is ford-like Balu Ka Gera and the desert oasis of Shea Goru. For a relatively short trek, it is chock full of these rapid changes in scenery.
Hampta Pass is one of the most dramatic crossover treks you can do. Right from the beginning of this trek, the trail sets the tone for the heightened drama on its terrain.
Day 1 - Delhi to Manali
Reach Delhi at 4.00 PM, From Delhi to Manali there will be overnight bus journey of 13-14
Day 2 - Arrive Manali
Arrive Manali in the morning. Today is rest day. In the evening we will go for acclimatization walk.
Day 3:- Drive from Manali to Jobra & Trek to Chika 3 KM Trek
Today we will drive to Jobra and then start our trek to Chika. Hampta Pass trek starts from Allain Guhugal Hydel Project site. Get down from the vehicle at the project site & across the main road. Take the narrow trail that leads to the forest of pine trees. A variety of trees like maple, deodar, toss, and oak can also be spotted on this trail. Cross the Rani Nallah by the wooden bridge & from here the trail is on the right of Rani nallah. Overnight Stay in Tent.
Day 4:- Trek from Chika to Balu-Ka-Gera 9 KM Trek
After early breakfast, we will start our trek to Balu-Ka-Gera. The trail stays on the true right of the river for the most part of the day. The initial climb is through boulders. Today we will walk along the Rani River into a valley sprinkled with little multi-colored flowers which are as beautiful as Valley of flowers. The site is windy which make the temperature even lower than actual. Pitch your tents and camp at Balu Ka Gera, 11,000 feet above sea level.
Day 5:- Trek from Balu-Ka-Gera to Sheagoru via Hampta Pass 8 KM Trek
Today, after early breakfast we will start ascending. The weather can be very unpredictable here. The trek begins by surrounding of the pool of water to enter the partially dried up glacial river bed. The climb is vigorous all the way up to Hampta pass. Walk at a steady pace with minimum breaks. . Once you cross the pass you enter the Lahaul region & one can feel the change in the scenery. The trail is completely downhill from the Pass. After some walking we can see the campsite of Shea Goru far in the distance. The last few km are mostly flat. Shea Goru means “Cold Street” and is really very cold here. This is the the most beautiful campsite of Hampta Pass trek. Overnight Stay in Tent.
Day 6:- Trek from Sheagoru to Chhatru.7 KM
After breakfast, start hiking. Almost half of the trek is easy & full of descent. After descending we can see the large valley of the river Chandra. Reach Chhatru which is the road head. Overnight Stay in Tent.
Day 7: - Drive from Chattru to Manali 80 KM Drive
After early breakfast we will leave the camp site to avoid the traffic jam at Rohtang Pass. Reach Manali by 5 PM Approx. And here ends the Hampta Pass Trek with amazing memories.
Day 8:- Manali to Delhi
Today Morning check out from the hotel & move towards Delhi Overnight Journey.
Day 9: - Arrive Delhi
Reach Delhi with sweet memories

Manali is well connected to Delhi. If you take an overnight bus from Delhi, it will take you 12-14 hours to reach Manali. Tickets can be booked online. You can choose government buses such as HPTDC and HRTC as they usually run on schedule.

Q1. How about accommodation facility in this trek?
Accommodation will be in tents on all the days – each tent will be shared by 3 / 4 Hikers. The tents will be provided by Mountain Hikers. We will also put up Dinner Tent / Kitchen Tent & Toilet tents – The number will vary according to the size of the group.
Mountain Hikers will provide sleeping bag to each Hiker. The sleeping bags we provide can sustain temperatures up to -10° C on high altitude treks.
Q2. When will there be snow on this trek?
You are possible to find snow on this trek in June. Though, this depends on the snowfall that happens in the earlier winter.
Q3. At what time we supposed to reach Manali?
Mountain Hikers will arrange for pick up from Delhi by 05:30 PM on first day. Be sure to reach Delhi by 04:00 PM.
Q4. When will we get back to Manali?
On Day 7, we will reach back to Haridwar.
Q5. What is the best way to reach Manali?

Q6. Can First timers go for this trek?
Yes. Hampta Pass trek is a Moderate level trek. First timers can go for this trek. However, irrespective of your past trekking experience, fitness is mandatory before every high altitude trek. Everyday exercise, Yoga, jogging 5-6 km in 30 minutes can help with this trek.
Q7. Who will be trek coordinator with us from Mountain Hikers?
An expert qualified & certified Trek Leader from Mountain Hikers, along with technical guides, cooks and other staff members will be with hikers during the whole trek. This team is well trained and is always ready to help hikers.
Q8. Do I need special snowshoes for the trek?
No need to buy special snowshoes for this trek. A good trekking shoes is sufficient for the trek. We advise a pair that is water resistant. Keep sufficient spare socks for a quick change in case the snow wets the insides of the shoes.
Q9. What kind of food is served on the trek? Should we carry any food?
Mountain Hikers provides menu which is suitable for high altitude treks. Breakfast menu includes bread & Jam and butter, Dalia, Poha, sandwiches, corn flakes etc. Lunch mostly includes of Roti or Puri with Veg. sabzi. Dinner is complete with Dal, Rice, Roti and Dessert. You can carry dry snacks & dry fruits if required.
Q10. When it becomes really cold can I consume alcohol?
Alcohol is unsafe in extreme cold, especially on high altitudes. Contrary to what people believe, alcohol does not make you warmer. Instead it opens your pores making your body colder. Moreover, it dehydrates you very speedily. Hence consumption of alcohol is strictly prohibited on all Mountain Hikers treks. Similarly smoking is not allowed on Mountain Hikers Treks Anyone found with alcohol is quickly removed from the trek.
Q11. What about the internet & WiFi connectivity?
Jobri have mobile phone networks that work irregularly.
Q12. What about the ATMs if I need to withdraw cash?
If you wish to withdraw money before the trek, then you will get ATM at Manali, since this is the last place you will find an ATM.
